SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Officials with the Studebaker National Museum announced the new exhibit, The South Bend Region of the Sports Car Club of America, which is open now through June 8.
The South Bend Region chapter is one of the SCCA oldest, according to museum officials.
Officials say in 1950 Studebaker began hosting an SCCA summer regional meet at the company’s Proving Ground that drew sports cars from around the country for a weekend of camaraderie and motorsports.
The exhibit includes a display in the Carmichael Bullet Nose Gallery featuring an appearance by a 1949 Healey Silverstone D-Type, a veteran of the Proving Ground meets, said museum officials.

The Studebaker Museum is located at 201 Chapin St. in South Bend.
It is open Monday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday noon to 5 p.m.
Admission is $11 for adults, $9.50 for seniors over 60, and $7 for youth ages 6-18.
You can find more information by calling the museum at (574) 235-9714 or toll free at (888) 391-5600 or visiting their website.
