One racer, Tim McClanahan says his passion for mud racing has deep roots.

‘It's always family oriented, it's for a great cause, that's a bonus, it's fun, see how far you go or how fast you go,” said McClanahan.

Not only did the adult mud racers have fun, but there was a mini mudders race as well, going through a mini mud track.

The Sod Busters' President Carl Woodcox who joined the road club back in 2008, worked his way up as president and looks forward to putting on this event every year.

“We got one-off completely custom trucks that are 1500 horsepower and above the will go over this pit in about the three second mark,” said Woodcox.

The announcer of Sunday's event, Ricky Baer, has been announcing for the Sod Busters for about 15 years giving praise to the family fun event that has been going on for 23 years.

‘It's a lot of property, the kids can come out, they can see the big trucks, they can see the mud and later up you'll be able to hear them, they’ll be roaring through the mud,” said Baer.

And a portion of the proceeds from today's event will go to Camp Millhouse, and the Center for Hospice Care.
