Local high school basketball teams fall in state championships

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- Two local high school basketball seasons have come to end after losing at the state championship games this weekend. 

Triton boys' basketball ended in a 50-37 loss to Barre-Reeve in the Class 1A state championship game on Saturday at the Gainbridge Fieldhouse. 

This was the Tritons fifth state championship appearance since 2013. 

Triton’s Julian Swanson led all scorers with 16 points. Jayden Overmyer scored 10 points for the Trojans.

The Westview boys' basketball team ended in a 57-56 loss to Park Heritage in the Class 2A state championship with only 8.4 seconds left in the game. 

This was the Warriors first state finals appearance since their first runner up finish in 2014.  

The Warriors were looking to win their first state title in 26 years after winning back-to-back championships in 1999 and 2000.

Kaden Grau led Westview with 14 points and seven rebounds. Austin Schlabach had 13 points while Daniel Yoder and Pierce Yoder scored nine points apiece on a combined six three-pointers.
