South Bend Medical Foundation offers Notre Dame themed incentive for blood donors

SOUTH BEND, Ind. - Notre Dame Football fans might be interested in donating blood at the South Bend Medical Foundation where you have until Saturday, to be entered for the chance to win a football signed by Head Coach Marcus Freeman.

The South Bend Medical Foundation is entering anyone, who donates blood, into a raffle to win the piece of Fighting Irish memorabilia.

SBMF staff say they hope this kind of event will inspire more people to donate even without incentives.

Colleen Hahn, Manager of Blood Donor Recruitment and Community Awareness for the South Bend Medical Foundation, stated, "The one thing I do want to say is that I want to re-educate donors that, please don't wait until we put out a plea for blood. You're eligible to donate every 56 days. So please, if you're eligible, come on in. It will save us from sending out those pleas."

You can still enter to win that signed football if you donate before 2 p.m. Saturday afternoon.

We're told the holiday season can often be a dry spell for blood donations, meaning the potentially life-saving blood is running low for hospitals nationwide.
