Rebuilding Together extends deadline for free home repairs
SOUTH BEND, Ind. – The city of South Bend has partnered with several local community centers and winter amnesty shelters to provide warming centers for those in need.
Venues Parks and Arts Community Centers are available during normal hours for residents who need to warm up.
- Charles Black Community Center - 3419 W. Washington Street, Monday – Thursday: 9 a.m. – 8 p.m., Friday: 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.
- Howard Park Event Center – 219 S. St. Louis Blvd, Monday – Friday: 8 a.m. – 8 p.m., Saturday & Sunday: Noon – 8 p.m.
- Martin Luther King Jr Community Center - 1522 Linden Ave, Monday – Thursday: 9 a.m. – 9 p.m., Friday: 9 a.m. – 6:30 p.m.
- O’Brien Fitness Center – 312 E. Walter St.,, Monday – Friday: 8 a.m. – 9 p.m., Saturday: 8 a.m.– 4 p.m., Sunday: 9 a.m. – 2 p.m.
Residents who need overnight accommodations can seek shelter at Weather Amnesty, from 8 p.m. to 8 a.m. nightly, at 506 S Main St.
Because of severe weather, Weather Amnesty will temporarily extend its operating hours this Thursday and Saturday.
