South Bend announces 2023 Neighborhood IGNITE Grant recipients

SOUTH BEND, Ind. - The City of South Bend announced the recipients of the 2023 Neighborhood IGNITE (Innovation Grants for Neighborhood Inspiration, Transformation and Enhancement) Grant Program.

In July 2022, the city launched the Neighborhood IGNITE Grant Program, which provides grants of up to $10,000 to neighborhood associations to jumpstart resident-led projects that positively impact their community.

Through the city’s Engagement and Economic Empowerment Team, the grant program is exclusively for neighborhood associations and residents within their neighborhoods.

The projects aim to improve neighborhoods with innovative programs with goals to inspire community engagement.

The 2023 Neighborhood Grant recipients and projects are listed below:

LaSalle Park Neighborhood Association - Neighborhood Tool Trailer

Develop a neighborhood tool trailer and lending program for residents.

Miami Village – Randolph Park Beautification

Install landscaping and flower bends around the Randolph Park signage.

Near Northwest Neighborhood – “Tot Lot” and Community Greenspace

Near Northwest Neighborhood's continued partnership with St. Paul Bethel Church to revitalize and reopen a greenspace play area for small children and community members.

Near West Side Neighborhood Organization- Neighborhood Signage

Install permanent signage identifying and welcoming residents and visitors to the neighborhood.

Northeast Neighborhood Council- Fence with a mural spelling “Northeast”

Install a fence/signage with a mural painting identifying and welcoming residents and visitors to the neighborhood.

River Park Neighborhood Association – Streetlight Banner Signs

Install placemaking banner signs along the boundaries of River Park.

Rum Village- Neighborhood Signage

Install permanent signage identifying and welcoming residents and visitors to the neighborhood.

Southeast Organized Area Residents- Neighborhood Signage.

Install permanent signage identifying and welcoming residents and visitors to the neighborhood.

Twyckenham Hills- Neighborhood Signage

Install permanent signage identifying and welcoming residents and visitors to the neighborhood.

The IGNITE 2024 Grant applications are currently open with applications due by the end of June.
