Mild and dry weekend
SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- South Bend finally got a break from the measurable snow Monday, ending the streak of consecutive snowy days at five.
However, we shouldn’t expect the snow that’s out there to leave anytime soon.
Temperatures will remain below freezing all week long, locking the snowpack (currently sitting at three inches in South Bend) in place.
There will likely be additional snow accumulations this week as Lake Michigan provides us with lake effect snow chances.
While light snow is possible on Tuesday, a higher impact snow will likely hit Michiana Wednesday into Thursday.
We’ll see if our snowpack can top the ten inches of snow on the ground South Bend briefly had in January 2024.
Temperatures will turn milder by the end of February, with above freezing temperatures expected to start next week.
