Single-vehicle crash results in one dead Thursday morning

ST. JOSEPH, Mich. -- The St. Joseph Township Police Department reports officers were dispatched to a single-vehicle crash on Niles Road near Lincoln Avenue around 9:13 a.m., Thursday.
Officers on scene found a vehicle had crashed into a telephone pole.
The driver, a 35-year-old St. Joseph Township woman, was unresponsive and later pronounced dead.
Witnesses told police the vehicle was traveling north on Niles Road when it veered to the left, jumped the curb, and struck the telephone pole.
The driver had to be extricated from the vehicle.
The crash remains under investigation and neither speed nor alcohol are believed to be factors, according to police.
The Michigan State Police, St. Joseph Department of Public Safety, and the Berrien County Sheriff's Department Accident Investigation Team assisted with the investigation.
