Single-vehicle crash kills young driver in Elkhart County

ELKHART COUNTY, Ind. -- One man is dead after an early morning crash that tore through two residential yards before concluding with a collision into a tree.
Authorities say a 2014 Ford Fusion was being driven north on C.R. 9 by 19-year-old Dontae Quinones, of Elkhart early Wednesday morning.
At roughly 2:03 a.m., it was reported that the Ford drove off the east side of C.R. 9 and drove through two yards before colliding with a tree that was in the front yard of 52910 C.R. 9.
The Ford sustained heavy front passenger side damage and Quinones was pronounced deceased at the scene by Osolo Paramedics due to apparent internal and head injuries sustained as a result of the crash.
Editor's note: While the official crash report states Dontae Quinones was 19 years old, ABC57 has had multiple people reach out to inform us that he was 24 years old. We will update the article as soon as the official report is corrected.
