Shooting at Orchards Mall under investigation

BENTON CHARTER TOWNSHIP, Mich.—The Benton Township Police Department is investigating a shooting they say happened at Rock Starz Rental Hall at Orchards Mall on March 10.

Police were dispatched to the 1800 block of Pipestone Road at approximately 4:35 a.m. on March 10 for reports of a possible disturbance at the Rock Starz Rental Hall at the Orchards Mall.

When they arrived, officers spoke with a man who denied calling police but told officers that another man had caused a disturbance but had since left.

Dispatch then told officers that there was a shooting victim at Spectrum Lakeland’s emergency room.

At the emergency room, the 30-year-old victim told officers that he had gotten into an argument with an unknown man regarding women when he heard multiple gunshots. The victim said he then realized he had been shot and had two gunshot wounds to the right leg.

The victim was taken to the hospital by a friend. He was treated and released with non-life threatening injuries.

Police say the identity of the suspect is unknown.
