Shepherd's Heart Fellowship providing dinner and camaraderie this Christmas

OSCEOLA, Ind. -- One local church is keeping its lights on this Christmas Day.

Shepherd's Heart Fellowship Church provided meals for their community, and any others who wanted to join on this Christmas Day Eve.

They've been hard at work in the kitchen for hours, making sure the family that is the Shepherd's Heart Fellowship gets a hearty holiday meal.

Meats, corn, mashed potatoes, and of course dessert, all being served up on this special day.

"Part of the reason we're doing this on Christmas Day is because it's a service to our community, there's lots of people who don't have anywhere to be on Christmas or their kids are grown up, or they're all alone, so we wanted to give this opportunity to have a family, have a group of people to come together and be with and have a good time," said Jenn Adams, digital ministry coordinator at Shepherd's Heart.

After a couple rounds of Christmas themed trivia, the feast began, and then the room got noticeably quiet due to everyone's mouths being full.

Jack car has been a part of this church for more than 3 decades, and as he approaches his 90th birthday, he remarked about the importance of this holiday, and this new tradition.

"It's very important for almost everybody, and everybody is welcome, not everybody comes, but we enjoy putting on something for them and for their children if we can, and we enjoy doing it, that's what it's all about," said Cary.

Organizers of the event tell ABC57 that while this is only the second year having this Christmas Day feast, they’re hoping to make it an annual tradition.
