Suspect in Goshen shooting leads officers in multi-county pursuit

FULTON COUNTY, Ind. -- Officials telling ABC57 News that a multi-county police chase is related to the shooting that killed a woman in Goshen on Monday afternoon. 

Two hours after the shooting in the area of Clinton and 3rd streets in downtown Goshen, a police chase was initiated in Fulton County for the suspect.

Indiana State Police said an Elkhart County man led officers on an extended chase spanning in Fulton, Cass and Pulaski counties at approximately 6:30 p.m.

A Fulton County deputy attempted to stop a 2014 Ford F-150 on S.R.17 near C.R. 100 South. When the deputy initiated the traffic stop, the driver refused to yield and continued to flee for several miles. 

One of the troopers executed a Precision Immobilization Technique maneuver near C.R. 950 South and C.R. 500 West, causing the truck to spin off the roadway and strike a pole.

Officers heard a gunshot come from the Ford as they were exiting their vehicles. 

As officers approached the vehicle, they identified the driver as 50-year-old Aaron T. Holliday of Elkhart and discovered he had sustained a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Holliday was pronounced dead at the scene by the Fulton County Coroner’s Office. No officers discharged their firearms during this incident. 

The Fulton County Sheriff’s Department was assisted by troopers from the Peru District, as well as officers from the Winamac Police Department, the Department of Natural Resources, and the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office.

This is an active and ongoing investigation. There is no further information to be released at this time. Notification to the family of the deceased has been made.
