BENTON HARBOR, Mich. -- Indiana Michigan Power held an informational meeting on Monday at the Todd Center at Lake Michigan College on how Indiana Michigan Power will convert to renewable energy for the next decade.
Michigan enacted a clean energy legislation in 2023 where the purpose of it is to have 100 percent clean energy by 2040.
In order to supply energy without carbon emission or greenhouse gases, Indiana Michigan Power is looking to rely on a clean energy system.
Stephanny Smith, Director of Communications and Engagement for Indiana Michigan Power, stated, "Our cook nuclear plant is located here in southwest Michigan, and it is one of the largest generation sources for us. So, looking at how cook nuclear figures into our future plans is very important, not just to Michigan customers, but also as a whole and our parent company, American Electric Power."
