Senator presents federal disaster relief resolution

LANSING - Senator John Proos is asking President Obama to grant southwest Michigan federal disaster assistance in the wake of near freezing temperatures that destroyed a number of grape crops.

It's a story ABC 57 has been following as those temperatures dipped over the last several weeks. Some 10,000 acres of grapes were destroyed. That's nearly 95 percent of the area's total grape crop, which will cost farmers more than $20 million dollars this season.

Proos presented his resolution to the Michigan Senate on Thursday.
