UPDATE (8:09p.m.): The section of S.R. 2 has reopened after a multi-vehicle crash occurred just before 3 p.m. today.
LA PORTE COUNTY, Ind. -- The La Porte County Sheriff's Office reports deputies responded to the 2700-east block of S.R. 2 for a crash involving commercial motor vehicle and a garbage truck just before 3 p.m. Tuesday.


Authorities say the eastbound and westbound lanes of S.R. 2 are closed in the area.
S.R. 2 eastbound lanes are closed at Fail Road, while the westbound lanes are closed at C.R. 300 East.
Authorities say the closures will be lengthy.
