WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Lawmakers were told today in an unclassified briefing that 20 minutes before former President Donald Trump was shot in an assassination attempt, Secret Service had spotted Thomas Matthew Crooks, the would-be assassin, on the roof.
The lawmakers were told this information by law enforcement officials in the briefing.
They said the snipers had spotted him on the roof at 5:52 p.m. and shooting happened at 6:12 p.m.
The unclassified briefing was conducted by the FBI Director, along his Deputy Director, and the head of the Secret Service.
Lawmakers were also informed that Crooks had been identified as a person of interest 62 minutes before the shooting occurred.
