SBPD looking for suspect in Wednesday afternoon bank robbery

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- The South Bend Police Department is looking for a suspect in a Wednesday afternoon bank robbery at the 1st Source Bank in the 2000 block of Ireland Road.

Authorities say the call came in around 1 p.m. and that the investigation indicates the suspect entered the bank, approached a teller window, and demanded money from the drawer.

"The suspect then left the bank with an undisclosed amount of money prior to officers’ arrival," SBPD said. "No one was injured during the incident."

Detectives from the Major Crimes Unit received and reviewed surveillance video and obtained a description of the suspect, who they describe as a tall, thin white male wearing a florescent safety/work-style jacket, a Yellowstone hat, and a surgical mask.

SBPD asks that anyone with information regarding this suspect or the bank robbery contact the Detective Bureau at 574-235-9263 or Michiana Crime Stoppers at 574-288-STOP.
