SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Today the South Bend Fire Department reassembled the final wrought iron pieces of the South Bend Firefighters Memorial, at the newly refurbished Seitz Park downtown.
Originally dedicated in 2004, the memorial was designed, built and funded entirely by the department. It was disassembled and stored during the park renovations and the construction of the University of Notre Dame new hydroelectric power plant under the park.
The memorial includes the names of all the fallen South Bend Firefighters to honor their sacrifice and dedication to saving lives.
