Rochester Police Department investigating suspected murder-suicide

ROCHESTER, Ind. -- The Rochester Police Department reports officers conducted a welfare check on occupants of a vehicle parked in front of the police department at 312 Main St. around 11 p.m., Tuesday.

Authorities say upon approaching the vehicle, officers found there were two occupants, both deceased.

Police say both people appeared to have suffered fatal gunshot wounds.

During the initial investigation, police say they found one firearm in the vehicle.

The victims have been identified as 42-year-old Heidi Prince and 49-year-old Keith Parsons, both of Rochester.

The report sates evidence collected and gathered during the preliminary investigation indicates Parsons fatally shot Prince before taking his own life.

Police say this remains an active investigation and no further details are being released currently.
