Rhode Island man sentenced 6.5 years for shipping fentanyl to Indiana

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- The United States Department of Justice announced on Thursday that 44-year-old Jesus Martinez-Salas of Providence, R.I., was sentenced to 78 months in prison followed by four years of supervised release shipping for than a pound of illegal drugs to an Indiana buyer.

According to case documents, in late 2022, Martinez-Salas shipped 40 grams of fentanyl from Rhode Island to Indiana.

This case was investigated by the Drug Enforcement Administration.
