BERRIEN COUNTY, Ind. -- Berrien County picks a new sheriff this November and there are four candidates looking to take on the county's top law enforcement job.
Earlier today, candidates faced questions from the public about why they would be the right fit for the job.
Incumbent Sheriff Chuck Heit was appointed to the job and is now looking to be elected for the first time.
Also in the running are candidates Jason Long, Rick Briand, and Roger Johnson.
During the forum, voters asked the candidates about key issues for the sheriff.
Many are concerned about mental health, drug abuse, and gun violence in Berrien County.
