Republican National Convention delayed by Tropical Storm Isaac
TAMPA BAY, Fla. -- The Republican National Convention kicked off just a few minutes after 2 p.m. on Monday, but quite a few people were missing.
Delegates officially opened the convention with an abbreviated session.
Many delegates did not attend the unofficial first day of the convention because of the weather.
Tropical Storm Isaac is causing problems in Tampa too.
Many people, including politicians are opting to stay inside instead of trying to brave the storm.
"I'm sure it's frustrating that the first day of the convention is postponed, but the convention made the same decision I made. The most important thing to do in the state is to keep everybody safe," said Florida Governor Rick Scott.
The convention said they won't have to cut any speakers; just A few speeches may run shorter.
The latest ABC News Poll shows a dead heat between President Obama and Mitt Romney.
