Temperatures are expected to continue rising, reaching the 70s this afternoon, with winds becoming increasingly breezy. As the evening approaches, skies will remain clear, but winds will pick up, bringing in warmer air. This warm air will fuel tonight’s severe weather event, with widespread rain and thunderstorms expected to begin after midnight. Areas west of US-31 face a higher risk for severe weather compared to those to the east. The primary concerns are damaging winds, with gusts potentially exceeding 50 mph, and heavy downpours. While the chance for isolated tornadoes is low, it is not zero, particularly between 2 AM and 8 AM Saturday. This system is fast-moving and should be out of the area by 8 AM.
Winds will continue to strengthen into Saturday, with sustained winds of 20-25 mph and gusts reaching 45+ mph. Despite the blustery conditions, temperatures are still expected to climb into the 70s.
The next chance for rain will arrive Saturday night into Sunday. The weekend will end with quieter but cooler conditions, and temperatures will begin to recover as we move into next week.
Tonight: Rain and thunderstorms. Low 56.
Tomorrow: Partly cloudy. Blustery. High 70.
Sunday: Overcast. High 43.
Monday: Quiet and mild. High 56.
