Public hearing to be hosted in La Porte over proposed pavement replacement and utility relocation project

LA PORTE, Ind. -- Indiana Department of Transportation and Metric Environmental will host a public hearing about a proposed project for pavement replacement and utility relocation in La Porte on March 6.

The project is located on U.S. 35/Indiana Ave. between State Rd. 2/Lincoln and Crescent Dr. and goes southeast through fields of agriculture to Boyd Boulevard.

The project seeks to ameliorate the conditions of the pavement, improve curbing and facilities, and better the capacity for water and stormwater facilities.

The plan will last over two years, starting in fall of this year. Due to the project U.S. 35 will be closed to traffic in 2025 and 2026.

The hearing will be at 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the Health Foundation of LaPorte at 140 East Shore Parkway in LaPorte.

There will be a formal presentation at 6 p.m. and then there will be an opportunity for the public to comment, with public statements for the record being taken as a part of the public hearing procedure.
