Presidential candidates focus on foreign policy on campaign trail
NATIONAL -- The number one issue for the American people right now is the economy.
But on the campaign trail on Tuesday, the candidates for president were focused on foreign policy issues.
In his remarks to the Veterans of Foreign Wars annual convention, Mitt Romney delivered a scathing indictment on the way President Obama handles foreign affairs.
"He has given trust where it is not earned, insult where it is not deserved, and apology where it is no due," Romney said.
But the president remained steadfast on his 2008 campaign promise.
"Four years ago, I made you a promise. I pledged to take the fight to our enemies and renew our leadership in the world. As president, that's what I've done," Obama said.
Obama's campaign claims Romney is just flat wrong and that our foreign ties have been stronger.
