LAKEVILLE, Ind. -- A portion of Old U.S. Highway 31 in Marshall County was officially dedicated Friday to honor the late U.S. Rep. Jackie Walorski.
The roadway, now named Jackie Walorski Road, stretches from the St. Joseph County line to the Fulton County line. Marshall County Commissioners said the dedication reflects the special bond between the community and Walorski, as well as the importance of preserving her legacy.
Walorski, a lifelong Hoosier, served Indiana’s 2nd Congressional District from 2013 until she died in 2022. Her mother, Martha, attended the ceremony and spoke about her daughter’s connection to the area, noting the road’s proximity to where Walorski grew up.
“It’s so personal,” Martha said. “She drove this road many times, and now her name will always be here.”
Officials said the dedication serves not only to remember Walorski’s service but also to inspire future generations.
