Police investigating theft in Walmart parking lot

ELKHART, Ind. - The Elkhart Police Department is investigating a theft in the parking lot of the Walmart on C.R. 6 on Sunday. 

At 6:29 p.m. on Sunday, officers were called to the store for a theft report.

The victim said she had set her purse in the front seat of her vehicle and was putting her groceries in the back of the vehicle when a young female approached her and started speaking to her. The female then left.

When the victim got home, she saw her wallet was missing from her purse.

Surveillance video from the store showed a heavier-set male, wearing shorts and a T-shirt, get into the victim's vehicle while the female was talking to the victim.

The male allegedly took the wallet and walked away, reports said.

No arrests have been made at this time. 

This is an ongoing investigation.
