UPDATE: Mishawaka Police Department now confirms two adults were hit by a van near the alley in the 1006 block of Jackson Street.

Once arriving on scene, they found a man and woman on the ground, next to the van.

They were both transported to a local hospital for their injuries.

Their current condition is unknown.

Prior to the arrival of the police the man driving the van fled on foot but was later located and taken into custody.

This is an ongoing investigation.

MISHAWAKA, Ind. -- St. Joseph County Dispatch confirmed to ABC57 that officers with the Mishawka Police Department are investigating a vehicle crash with a pedestrian in the 1000 block of Jackson Street.

Authorities say the call came in around 4:32 p.m., Tuesday, and the area was blocked off for the investigation.

At least one person was taken to the hospital.
