Police investigating after gunfire enters bedroom of sleeping child

ELKHART, Ind. - The Elkhart Police Department is investigating reports of gunfire on Middlebury Street early Wednesday morning, including a report that some of the shots entered a bedroom where a young child was sleeping.

At 2:09 a.m., officers were called to the 700 block of Middlebury St. for a fight.

As officers were at the scene, another call came in saying an apartment in the 300 block of Middlebury St. was hit by gunfire.

According to the caller, shots were fired at her residence and the gunfire entered a bedroom where her young child was sleeping.

Shots also entered another apartment in the same building, reports said.

No one was injured in the incident and no arrests have been made at this time.

This is an ongoing investigation.
