Plymouth man found guilty of Sexual Misconduct with a Minor, Attempted Child Molesting

MARSHALL COUNTY, Ind. -- The Marshall County Prosecutor’s Office announced Tuesday that a 46-year-old Plymouth man was convicted of crimes against a child following a bench trial on Jan. 20.

The man, identified as Aaron Ganshorn, waived the right to a jury trial and instead tried the case to the court via a bench trial.

Ganshorn was found guilty of Sexual Misconduct with a Minor, a Level 5 Felony, Attempted Child Molesting, a Level 1 Felony, and Attempted Sexual Misconduct with a Minor, a Level 4 Felony. Court documents show his other counts were dismissed or found not guilty.

Documents reveal Ganshorn was charged following an investigation by the Indiana State Police after the victim told teachers at her middle school that he was attempting to have sexual intercourse with her and touching her inappropriately.

The victim said this occurred over a period of years.

As required by law, teachers reported this to the Indiana Department of Child Services, which led to law enforcement's involvement.

The prosector's office notes that Level 5 felonies carry a potential penalty of 1 to 6 years in the Department of Correction, Level 4 felonies carry a potential penalty of 2 to 12 years in the Department of Correction, and Level 1 felonies carry a potential penalty of 20 to 40 years in the Department of Correction.

Ganshorn's convictions will automatically result in him registering as a sex or violent offender.

His sentencing in Marshall Superior Court 1 has yet to be scheduled.
