NAPPANEE, Ind. -- Nappanee’s Friday Fest will be featuring a Pet the Bunny booth with information sessions at the pavilion at 201 W. Market Street.

The ACT Nappanee-Wakarusa booth is hosted by rabbit breeder Ryan McBride of MC Rabbitry. McBride will have rabbits for children and adults to pet and will inform attendees about rabbit breeds, care and commercial use.

“I was introduced to rabbits through my children’s 4-H projects…There are 50 different ARBA recognized breeds and raising them is a great way for kids to learn responsibility,” said McBride.

The three presentations McBride gives are:

  • How to Raise a Show Rabbit @ 5:30 p.m.
  • Rabbit Showmanship Tips @ 6:15 p.m.
  • Breed ID: Food, Fur, and Fancy @ 7 p.m.

Contributions made to the ACT Nappanee-Wakarusa booth will go towards the charities Heifer International and THE CENTER, a WaNee district charity supporting families with a food pantry and financial assistance.

These donations will help struggling Elkhart families in the wake of rising food insecurity.

"At our food pantry, demand has increased by 93% in the past two months as gas and grocery prices have increased, and as clients have anticipated the pending decrease of their SNAP benefits by 50%," Executive Director of THE CENTER, Mark Mikel noted.
