Pastor accused of having sex with female member for years, starting when she was 16-years-old
WARSAW, Ind., --- A well known Warsaw pastor pulled from the pulpit, over allegations he had sex with a woman from his church for years, starting when she was a 16 year-old-girl.
Pastor John Lowe II, admitted to it publicly in front of his congregation during Sunday services and then was confronted by the alleged victim.
The video of the pastor and the alleged female victim who spoke out at the church quickly went viral on social media.
“You did things to my teenage body that had never and should have never been done. If you can't admit the truth, you have to answer to God,” said the alleged female victim, a member of New Life Christian Church & World Outreach who spoke out in front of the congregation Sunday.
The female member alleged Pastor Lowe was having sex with her for nine years, starting back when she was just 16-years-old.
“I told you I committed adultery. I told you it went on far too long,” answered Pastor Lowe after being questioned by the congregation.
Another woman who left the church and now lives in California told ABC57, although disappointed about the decades old allegations she was happy members of the New Life are finally speaking out.
“I was angry and I am angry at the injustice and the lies and deceit that this church has cost and the pain that it’s caused in so many people’s lives not just mine,” said Jessica Kline, a former member of the church.
“To me as a gay man how I was completely ostracized, it’s not surprising that this would happen within a church like this. It’s sickening and it’s disgusting,” added another former member Malachi Robinson.
Since allegations have now come to light the former members said they hope Pastor Lowe and his entire family steps from ministering permanently.
“I would like to see the Lowe’s remove themselves completely from ministry and Pastor Lowe shouldn’t be allowed to be in any form of ministry that regards women, children, you know marriage counseling,” said Robinson.
They also added they hope this gives other potential victims the courage to come forward with their stories.
“To see the woman come forward, that empowered me to speak up and I hope it empowers others because I know that we’re not the only ones,” added Kline.
The alleged victim claims other women in the congregation experienced sexual abuse at the hands of male leaders in the church as well.
The Kosciusko County’s Prosecutor's office confirmed with ABC57 that there is a pending investigation, but no charges have been filed at this point.
The church said Pastor Lowe will be stepping down from ministering.
