Passenger injured, driver cited following two-vehicle crash

ELKHART COUNTY, Ind. -- The Elkhart County Sheriff's Office reports deputies responded to a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of C.R. 40 at C.R. 9 on Friday around 9:18 a.m.
The report states a 2014 Ford Escape, driven by 77-year-old Jack L. Parkhurst of Elkhart, was traveling south on C.R. 9 at the intersection of C.R. 40.
Authorities say a 2017 Chevy Silverado, driven by a 35-year-old Wakarusa man, was traveling west on C.R. 40 at the intersection of C.R. 9.
Deputies say Parkhurst had a stop sign at the intersection while the Silverado didn't.
The report states Parkhurst disregarded the stop sign and the Silverado struck his driver's side.
Parkhurst's front seat passenger, a 66-year-old Elkhart woman, had complaints of chest pain and was taken to Elkhart General Hospital for treatment.
Parkhurst was cited for Disregarding a Stop Sign.
The Silverado's driver was uninjured.
