One year after opening, Granger wine bar doubles in size

GRANGER, Ind.—Bin 23 Wine Bar and Bistro has been open for just over a year and the upscale GrandView development’s lone commercial tenant is already making big changes.

Bin 23 added Marketplace onto its name in December, opening up a shop inside of the bar that offers over 300 different wines from around the world along with specialty meats, cheese and chocolates.

The new addition doubles the size of the existing Bin 23.

“This has been kind of my baby for the last 18 months. We’ve been discussing the opening and creating the menu from scratch and literally selecting the wines by hand so seeing this come to fruition really means a lot to me,” said Operations Manager Casey Schaefer.

Schaefer said the shop and restaurant has seen more and more people trickle in every day and she hopes the expansion only increases traffic.

“We get a lot of people through word-of-mouth so we try and make sure every experience here is a great one,” Schaefer said.

Unique wine-themed gifts are also available inside of the marketplace.

The wine bar also opened up a private dining room for group reservations that Schaefer said is affectionately referred to as The Cellar.

The bistro menu has been updated to include seasonal dishes like a wintertime Caprese salad and steak options.

A tasting room will also be opening up inside of Bin 23 in the next few weeks.

Bin 23, which opened in December 2018, sits inside of the upscale GrandView development that offers a mix of retail and residential spaces.

“Although the businesses coming in next door to us has been a little bit slow, we’re okay with that just because we like to establish who we are here, that way, we don’t get forgotten when other people come in,” Schaefer said.

Great Lakes Capital announced in 2018 that sometime in 2020, the Bar Louie located in University Park Mall will make the move to the development’s Phase II space and take up three floors of a newly constructed building.

On Wednesday, Great Lakes Capital said that there will likely be a national franchise gourmet sandwich shop going into the development later this year.

Phase II of the development is set to open its first few apartment homes in early 2020.
