Haunted Elkhart County
ELKHART COUNTY, Ind. - Elkhart's slice of major opioid settlements may help pay for major investments into mental health resources.
City leaders discussed an ordinance to commit more than $290,000 to Oaklawn’s new crisis center at the Elkhart Common Council's Public Health and Safety Committee meeting Monday night.
Oaklawn is creating a crisis center at its Goshen campus to provide care for people facing mental illness, emotional distress or substance abuse.
Construction for that facility is expected to start in October.
Other council members were hesitant about using the funds for a facility in Goshen.
The common council is expected to decide on the proposal at its next meeting on August 7th.
