One person injured in two-vehicle Cass County crash

CASS COUNTY, Mich. -- On Oct. 2, at approximately 6:48 p.m., the Deputies of the Cass County Sheriff's Department responded to a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of M-62 and Brownsville Street in Jefferson Township.

The investigation showed that 69-year-old Bruce Cassady of Edwardsburg was traveling southbound on M-62, when 49-year-old Abeni Brown of Niles was stopped at the stop sign on Brownsville Street, failed to yield to oncoming traffic, and attempted to go westbound onto Hospital Street.

Brown was struck by Cassady's vehicle at the intersection and was then transported in an ambulance to Lakeland Hospital for injuries sustained in the crash.

Both drivers were wearing seatbelts and drugs/alcohol are not believed to be a contributing factor.
