One man killed in crash on US Highway 33 on Tuesday night
ELKHART COUNTY, Ind. - A fatal crash on US Highway 33, south of County Road 33, claimed the life of one driver on Tuesday around 7:38 pm, according to the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Office.
Sergio Salazar, a 28-year-old of Goshen, sustained fatal injuries due to the crash.
Salazar was driving a 2003 Pontiac Grand Prix was traveling north on US 33, but traffic was congested ahead.
The second vehicle, a 2007 GMC Yukon, was traveling south.
Salazar allegedly passed a vehicle on the right shoulder, returning to the roadway before he lost control of his car, according to deputies. Deputies said his vehicle slid sideways onto oncoming traffic, directly in front of the GMC, deputies said.
The GMC allegedly hit the middle passenger side of the Pontiac Grand Prix, according to deputies.
The Elkhart County Crash Investigating Team is investigating the crash.
