LONDON -- The Americans accomplished something they have not done since the Magnificent Seven at the 1996 Olympic Games.
The American Women came out in top form for the team competition in gymnastics. They took the Gold, edging out the Russians. The Romanians took home the Bronze.
The Americans last won the team Gold at the 1996 Atlanta Games.
In the pool, Americans picked up two more medals. Allison Schmitt took home the Gold in the 200 Freestyle.
Michael Phelps took home the Silver in the 200 Fly. That tied him for the most medals of any Olympian athlete at 18. But he broke the record when the men won the Gold in the 4x200 free.
