SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- A new Notre Dame walkway has been introduced to the public, linking a connection from downtown South Bend to the University of Notre Dame.
Thursday's inauguration presented the new pedestrian, biking, and hiking path, that will reach areas of downtown South Bend within a 1.5-mile walk.
This path aims to foster a stronger connection between the city and the university, benefiting visitors, residents, students, faculty, and staff.
Approximately 50 students joined in the talk today, speaking on how this will enable students to have more access to downtown South Bend in a safe and fast way.
The initiative is seen as a significant step in enhancing South Bend's identity as a college town and is a part of a broader vision for future development.
"And so, the idea that now there's this literal and pathway that will create that figurative connection between the cities and South Bend such that we are that great college town is really important to us, and it's our top priority." said Jeff Jarnecke the Executive Director of visit South Bend Mishawaka. "For us, the business South Bend, Mishawaka, and we think this is just the start of so many great things to cover."
