SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Star Defensive Tackle, Howard Cross will not play in Senior Day game against Virginia, which is also the final home game of the regular season. But a familiar face will return to Notre Dame Stadium for the first time since transferring.
Chris Tyree spent four years with the Irish before transferring back to his home state, to play for the Virginia Cavaliers. During his time in the blue and gold, Tyree scored seven touchdowns on 945 yards, while playing running back and receiver.
"Really respect Chris as a person, as a football player, you know, I'm just glad he's got his Notre Dame degree, and you know, he's a talented football player that will have to account for in the special teams battle and also the offensive face," Head Coach Marcus Freeman said.
"This is a special group of seniors. I mean, I can go through everyone and tell you how valuable they are to me as an individual and to us as a program. I want them to enjoy their senior day, because it isn't something that happens every year, like they've had to wait for this moment. They've worked for this moment. Everybody's journey has been different," Freeman added.
