NOW: Notre Dame Men’s Basketball 69-64 win over Syracuse snaps 5-game losing streak

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Braeden Shrewsberry ties his season high with 25 points in win over Syracuse.

It's something about playing in Purcell Pavilion, that puts Notre Dame basketball teams back in the win column. It happened Thursday when the women got back on the track in a 80-70 win in over time, against #4 Texas.

Saturday night, the men came with the same attitude.

It was a slow start to the game and Junior Forward Tae Davis seemed to be the only consistent scorer in the first half, scoring seven points in four minutes. That's until Davis picked up two fouls. Insert JR Konieczny off the bench, providing the spark the Irish needed.

"JR the way he practiced yesterday was just like he played today and we got to keep talking to him. We got to keep harping on it," Head Coach Micah Shrewsberry said.

Konieczny provided the Irish with all 15 points from the bench. Including a rim-rattling dunk.

"Honestly, I kind of forget what happened on that play. I haven't seen a video of it yet, but I felt like I was pretty high up there," Konieczny added.

Notre Dame held a 30 to 26 lead at the half. Second half, the Orange made adjustments and went 6-8. But Braeden Shrewsberry caught fire at the right time.

The sophomore scored 18 of his 25 points in the second half, leading the Irish to a 69-64 win.

"It's important for one for our psyche, right? We need to get back on the right side of winning, and we need to prove to ourselves that we can win a close game, but now you have a conference win, and just kind of put it in your back pocket and move to what's next, Shrewsberry said.
