Notre Dame lands 2025 five-star forward Macy Wednesday morning
SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- The Notre Dame Women's Basketball program and Head Coach Niele Ivey landed a prize piece of the 2025 recruiting class when five-star forward Leah Macy out of Bethlehem High School near Elizabethtown, Ky. committed to the Fighting Irish.
Macy is ranked No. 19 (No. 4 forward) in the Class of 2025 according to ESPN and signed with the Notre Dame on Wednesday morning. She has been a three-time all-state first-team selection as a high school player.
"As expected, Macy already has a long list of accomplishments. Last season, she averaged 24.9 points and 13.9 rebounds after shooting 67.7 percent shooting from the floor for her high school," Notre Dame Athletic Department officials said. "The Banshees went 27-9 and fell in the quarterfinals to the eventual state champions."
Program officials say Macy has played in multiple national and international tournaments, including being selected last summer to play for the United States in the 2024 FIBA U18 Women's AmeriCup and in the Under Armour Next G Hoops Elite 24.
Notre Dame coach Niele Ivey was the head coach for that U18 team, which won a gold medal in Colombia
Macy has also excelled in the classroom, as the now-senior was inducted into the National Honor Society a few weeks ago.
"Macy is Ivey's fourth five-star recruit in three seasons (Hannah Hidalgo, Emma Risch, Kate Koval). She joins Notre Dame as the program is on the rise with frontcourt recruiting," ND Athletic Department staff said. "The Irish added Koval along with graduate transfers Liatu King and Liza Karlen this season, although King and Karlen will have graduated by the time Macy arrives."
