Northwood prepares for round one of semi-state
NAPPANEE, Ind -- Northwood looks ahead to semi-state matchup against Fort Wayne Dwenger.
The panthers are 25-2 this season after winning their regional matchup over Lake Station 72-35 – claiming their first regional championship since 2007.
They’re hoping to overcome the 15-year drought and if they win at noon, they will face the winner of Delta and John Glenn.
The panthers had media day for the upcoming game in semi-state.
“I think all of our players grow up when they’re younger and dream about being in a semi-state and then you put it at Elkhart north gym, I think they’ve all heard stories about high school basketball in Indiana being in that gymnasium and the stories of the great players and they great teams and the roar of the crowds. I think that, that makes it special that they get an opportunity to do that this weekend,” said Northwood Head Coach Aaron Wolfe.
“It’s a good feeling. Like you said, we’ve been to regionals the last two years and just to come out on top, it’s a pretty good accomplishment we had. We’ve always wanted to win and that was our goal,” said Northwood senior Cade Brenner.
“It’s a blessing. We’ve worked for multiple years, since we’ve been little kids to get to this point and position. We’ve got a great coaching staff, players, and community behind us, supporting us,” added Northwood senior Ian Raasch.
