SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- After weeks of weather whiplash, we are going to be evening out this week and starting to warm up hopefully.
The Climate Prediction Center agrees, and believes Michiana is going to be warming up through the next three months.
Thankfully, we aren’t expected to see significantly higher than average temperatures, but we have around a 33-40% chance to see above average temperatures April-June.
We are also in the above average expected range for precipitation, one of the only places in the nation that could be seeing over a 40 percent chance.
The Climate Prediction Center also released the flood and drought outlook for the spring on March 20.
At the moment they aren’t predicting any part of Michiana to see flooding in these months but there are portions of Michiana that could see some changes regarding the drought.
Our current situation isn’t too bad, most counties in our viewing area are seeing at least abnormally dry conditions, some of us dipping into the moderate drought area.
These areas, according to the CPC, will likely be seeing the drought status removed, something that could happen as soon as next month, or this upcoming weekend with this next system.
