Niles Salvation Army starts sign-ups for free backpacks

NILES, Mich. -- The Niles Salvation Army is once again hosting its backpack program.

This year, the Niles Salvation Army expects hundreds to sign-up for the program.

ABC 57 called on Monday afternoon and learned the sign ups started on Monday.

Students who qualify will get a backpack every Friday with food in it for the weekend.

Hundreds took part in the program last year.

So many took in park in the program that they ran out of space and called on the Niles Public Library for help.
