Motorcyclist dead after crash with SUV
MARSHALL COUNTY, Ind. -- The Marshall County Sheriff's Office reports on Thursday, at 10:13 a.m., deputies responded to a crash involving a motorcycle and SUV in the area of Michigan Road and 6A Road, just north of Plymouth.
The report states first responders arrived to find a motorcyclist, identified as 64-year-old Steven E. Parker of La Porte, was seriously injured in the crash.
Parker collided with a 2014 GMC Terrain, driven by 27-year-old Maria J. Hernandez-Banegas of Bremen.
Parker was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash and sustained a head injury.
Parker was treated at the scene but was later pronounced dead.
Hernandez-Banegas was uninjured.
Authorities say as is standard procedure in a serious crash, Hernandez-Banegas, and was taken from the scene for a certified chemical test.
Currently, deputies say neither alcohol nor illegal drugs are believed to have been a factor.
This portion of Michigan Road was closed during the investigation.
The crash is still a pending investigation, and authorities say a report for the crash will be forwarded to the Marshall County Prosecutor for review as soon as the investigation is complete.
