Missing man found alive in wooded area near Toll Road Tuesday night
ELKHART COUNTY, Ind. - A man who had been reported missing out of Illinois was found alive in a wooded area near the Indiana Toll Road on Tuesday night, according to Indiana State Police.
The man, whose name has not been released, was located near the Toll Road and County Road 131 by state troopers and a deputy with the Elkhart County Sheriff's Office.
Earlier that day, troopers found a red Subaru abandoned on the side of the Toll Road near mile marker 102, approximately one mile east of the Bristol Exit.
Around 9 p.m. that night, family members called Indiana State Police saying the 62-year-old owner of the Subaru was missing out of Illinois.
The Subaru was unlocked and the owner's cellphone was in the vehicle, police said.
More units arrived to help search for the man in a wooded area south of the Toll Road.
At 10:45 p.m., police found the man, who was taken to the hospital for dehydration.
The man had been in the woods since early that morning, police determined.
Family members were notified that the man had been found.
