Mishawaka Street Department begins leaf pick-up program

MISHAWAKA, Ind. -- The Mishawaka Street Department will begin its annual Fall leaf pick-up program beginning November 1, 2021.

Mishawaka residents can start raking their leaves to the curb on October 30.

The Street Department will pick-up leaves each week the day before resident’s regular trash pick-up day.

Residents with a Monday trash day will have their leaves picked up on Fridays.

Curbside leaves should be free of stones, twigs, branches or any other foreign object that has the potential to damage leaf removal equipment.

The Street Department advises to rake leaves as close to pick-up day as possible.  Leaves that sit curbside for longer periods of time can clog sewer inlets or blow back into yards or streets.

Beginning October 25, leaves can be bagged and put out with your weekly trash pick-up. This year, the bag limit has been waived until December 17.

Brush can always be taken to the Mishawaka Recycling Center at 1105 East Fifth Street from 8:30 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday if you are a City of Mishawaka resident.

Any questions about the program can be answered by calling Street Commissioner Tim Ryan at the Mishawaka Street Department at 574-258-1660.
