Mishawaka reaches deal with Waste Management for trash, recycling pickup
MISHAWAKA, Ind. -- On Thursday, the City of Mishawaka announced that the Common Council approved a new solid waste collection contract with Waste Management that will go into effect on the first of the year.
"This partnership marks a step forward for our community, bringing enhanced waste services to residents and businesses throughout Mishawaka," city officials said. "WM’s commitment to reliability and sustainability will ensure a more streamlined, environmentally responsible waste management system for our city."
Under the new contract, residents can expect weekly pickups for trash, recycling, and bulky items.
"This frequency aims to keep our neighborhoods cleaner, reduce overflow, and provide a convenient and dependable solution for waste disposal," city officials said. "WM’s approach aligns well with our city’s values of efficiency and sustainability, providing recycling options that are easier to access and manage."
The city feels that enhanced recycling options will allow Mishawaka residents to better contribute to environmental health and sustainability.
"I’m grateful to the Mishawaka Common Council for their support in advancing these improved services. Through this partnership with WM, we’re making strides to keep Mishawaka clean, sustainable, and well-served for years to come," said Executive Director of Development and Governmental Affairs Matthew Lentsch.
"This contract not only meets today’s needs but also positions us for a cleaner and more sustainable future."
