SOUTH BEND, Ind -- Former Notre Dame football and broadcasting legend, Mike Golic Sr and his family hosted their first-ever “Golic Sub Par Classic” at Notre Dame for a friendly game of golf.

The Golic family has a rich history at Notre Dame so when they decided as a family to host this event – choosing to have it in south bend was a no brainer.

“We have been involved with Notre Dame so long since my brother Bob first came here in 75’ and my daughter graduated in 16’,” said Golic Sr.

The Golic’s coming back to an area they call home, to give back to four local organizations, through the Sub Par Classic.

This year, the beneficiaries are the South Bend enter for the homeless, the Logan Center, The Northern Indiana Food Bank and the South Bend Animal Resource Center.

“So, we've always been involved too, with a local charity. So, we thought we really wanted to do a great fundraiser to raise money for them. And, and this is this turned out pretty well,” Golic Sr added.

The best of Notre Dame came out to participate in the inaugural event.

Including former Notre Dame Women’s Basketball Coach Muffet McGraw, former Notre Dame football and current NFL players, Julian Love, and Kyle Rudolph.

“The Golic, like family has done so much for so many other people and so many other foundations, so many other organizations, that, you know, when we had the opportunity to support the Golic family foundation and the great organizations that they're benefiting here in the south bend community. You know, I think I speak for everyone, when I say I jumped at the opportunity to get out here in support,” said Rudolph.

“It's always good to be back in south bend back at Notre Dame, this is home. And so, it was always good to see people that you know, you spent years with that you run close to that. So, it's good to be here,” said Love.

Even our own Allison Hayes joined in on the fun and the Golic family hopes to keep their golf classic going for years to come.

"Our plan is to have this for many, many years have it right here at the warren and keep everything right on Notre Dame campus," said Golic Sr.
